Zener Diode Voltage Regulators
Can I use this zener diode to regulate a 12v supply even if the supply reaches 14v?
I found this site explaining zener diodes. I need to regulate 12v no matter if the voltage exceeds 12v. Will this idea work? Here is the website, btw, thanks everyone for your help, I'm learning lots

no, won't work unless your current requirement (which you don't tell us) is low. In theory it could, but the dissipations quickly get too high.
The design quickly runs into contradictions, which is why this is used only on low currents. If your current is 1 amp (it's probably higher), then with supply voltage Vs of 12.1 volts, the resistor has to be R = E/I = 0.1v/1a = 0.1 ohm.
But when the voltage goes up to 13 volts, there is 1 volt across the resistor, which translates to 10 amps in the resistor (10 watts) and 9 amps in the zener (90 watts, very high). At 14 volts, those numbers double.
As I said before, any decent design will work with LEDs with supply voltage between 12 and 14 volts with no problem.
again, this is an idea that won't work, and is not needed. Believe me, I've designed tons of power supplies.
Batman is correct if the only two voltages were 12 and 14 volts, but it has to work with all the voltages in between.
edit: PS, if you changed your design voltage from 12 volts to 10 volts, or even 8 volts, then you could do this with either a series regulator (preferred) or a shunt regulator (wastes power), because (with 8 volts out) the regulator can work with a voltage drop varying from 4 to 6 volts, a much easier task than one that varies from 0 to 2 volts.

How to Build Zener-Regulators
Anybody can help? I have a motorcycle with a 12 Volts variable supply, I directly connected my bulb to it but?
my bulb which is 12V 25 watts will shut-off immediately when the supply voltage increases. I know zener diode can be a lot of help but I don't know what is the value if I use zener diode. Do i have other option to use other voltage regulator aside from zener diode? please give me some tips.
