In a voltage regulator, how does the zener impedance affect the voltage across the terminals of the diode...?
The proper operation of a zener to give a regulated voltage requires a high impedence source to begin with. This can be thought of as a current source. When the zener is connected there is a desired voltage on the zener. When other circuitry is connected then less current flows in the zener. This causes the voltage to drop. The lower the zener impedence the better the regulation.
