Zener Diode Transistor Circuit

amplified diode circuit?

(i cant find any valuable answers in the internet)
can somebody explain me the difference of using a amplified diode to a zener diode(advantages disadvantages)
or explain me some concept of amplified diode circuit

my teacher says that amplified diode is also a zener diode it just that it uses a npn transistor.
i need to formulate a Question and Answer in a statement form with 5 choices of answer.

thank you, hoping some lots of knowledgable guys can give knowledge about this

what is an "amplified diode"? An internet search turns up nothing.

From your wording, I suspect this is a NPN connected as an emitter follower with the zener in the base to ground with a bias resistor.

The advantage is more power. A typical zener can only handle 1 watt, whereas power transistors can handle 100s of watts.

Also, a zener as a regulator will always dissipate the power set by the series resistor, whereas the regulator will only supply the current demanded by the load.

Regulator will output a voltage of the zener diode voltage minus 0.6 or 0.7 volts, so it is not as accurate, and the 0.6/7 volts will change with temperature.

The regulator also keeps the zener current fairly constant, thus more accurate.

"Question and Answer in a statement form with 5 choices of answer"
you can do this, whatever it is.

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. In electronics, pass transistor logic (PTL) describes several logic families used in the design of integrated circuits. It reduces the count of transistors used to make different logic gates, by eliminating redundant transistors. Transistors are used as switches to pass logic levels between nodes of a circuit, instead of as switches connected directly to supply voltages . This reduces the number of active devices, but has the disadvantage that output levels can be no higher than the input level. Each transistor in series has a lower voltage at its output than at its input. If several devices are chained in series in a logic path, a conventionallyconstructed gate may be required to restore the signal voltage to the full value. By contrast, conventional CMOS logic always switches transistors to the power supply rails, so logic voltage levels in a sequential chain do not decrease. Since there is less isolation between input signals and outputs, designers must take care to assess the effects of unintentional paths within the circuit. How can I unserstand this?

I'm a DIYer in Electronics but there is a problem I can't solve!
I don't know how is it possible for a circuit to to understand that is the rechargeable battery charged or not. (Without ANY TIMER)
As you know it's not possible to understand if a rechargeable battery is charged or not until you use it.
But i want to design a circuit in order to understand the amount of Energy that it has and charge it automatically if the amount of energy is under the need amount. The type of battery that I use is a car battery and its always in use in the circuit. (it could be used by different situations)

I tried to use transistors and zener diodes to design the circuit but t couldn't help because this kind of circuit is just going to show the amount of Energy at the right time not in a long time!

Any help or suggestion will be highly appreciated!
Thanks

Since the battery accumulates charge Q it is amount of charge stored in the battery you are interested in. [I reality it is much more complex but let's keep it simple for now]. As you know the current I is
I=Q/t and power can be expressed as energy E flow or a product of voltage V and current I
P=E/t= VI

E= (VI)t since we will attempt to keep V constant during the charge
E=V I t we have to variables we can keep tabs on
I and t. This product is Q

E=V Q

So if you average current over time you and keep V constant you will end up with amount of energy stored.

I do not know an anolog circuit that would do that. A digital however is the way to go. See references below.
