Zener Diode Semiconductor
zener diode breakdown voltage?
AT breakdown voltage semiconductors get damaged,but zener diode works at reverse breakdown voltage,then why doesn't it get damaged????
Because the circuit a Zener is used in is designed to protect it from damage. A resistor is placed in series with the diode to limit current flow. Diodes used in other applications usually do not have sufficient series resistance to limit current flow so when they break down the current quickly exceeds the limit of the diode.
