This book basically gives the over view about The properties of erbiumdoped fiber amplifier (EDFA) such as gain and noise figure have been studied. By determining the characteristics of the 980nm, 1480nm 1550nm laser sources and ASE (amplified spontaneous emission) at the output of the amplifier used to determine the gain and noise figure of EDFA. This model allows to follow the signal (1550nm), pump (980nm) and ASE as they propagate along the fiber and determine population inversion .The both forward and backward propagation ASE are important in determining the overall gain and noise figure. For the amplification of more than 80 channels the DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) has required CBand (15251565)nm and LBand (15651610)nm EDFA.We show that a flat gain spectrum can be achieved in the range from 1565 to 1610 nm when the EDF length, pump power and pump configuration are appropriately chosen. Special care must be taken when selecting the EDF length. In this book, the design of InGaN LDs structures including multi quantum wells (MQWs) active region device are described and investigated by integrated system engineering technology computer aided design (ISE TCAD) device simulator. The parameters of the LDs structures are varied and optimized for high performance. This optimization study involves aspects such as thickness of active region, doping, thickness of stopper layer region, thickness of quantum wells and quantum barriers, number of quantum wells and several approaches to improve and achieve high efficiency, low threshold current and high output power of InGaN LDs. The basic LDs structures treated here are FabryPerot type InGaN double heterostructure (DH), separate confinement heterostructure (SCH) and multi quantum wells (MQWs).High performance LD has been obtained by using multi quantum wells incorporated with the optimized parameters. The lowest threshold current, higher external quantum efficiency and characteristic temperature are obtained when the number of InGaN well layers is two, at our laser emission wavelength of 415 nm, which is related to the problem of inhomogeneous carrier. Enterococc faecalis considered to be the mostresistant bacteria of the root canal, in the presentstudy we used two types of root canal disinfectant toshow their effect on this type of bacteria, the firstis the diode laser and the second NaOCl solution withspecial concentrations and times. the study conductedon human decoronated extracted teeth, adjusted with13mm root length, filled with a suspension of E.faecalis, Samples were divided into 14 groups eachgroup consisted of 10 prepared roots, sixty sampleswere irrigated with NaOCl solution at differentconcentrations (0.5, 2.5 and 5.25) at twoselected times (2 minutes and 5 minutes) for eachconcentration.Sixty samples were irradiated at different powers (2W, 2.5W and 3W); each power at thetotal irradiation time 30 and 60 seconds. Whencomparison was made between NaOCl irrigant and diodelaser in a combination among differentconcentrations, powers and times the result showedthat 5.25 NaOCl at both 2 minutes and 5 minutes hadthe highest antimicrobial effect with no significantdifferences from 3W laser / 10 sec (6 cycles) butsignificantly different from 3W / 5 sec (6 cycles). High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles YAG (Yard Auxiliary, General) training vessels are wooden boats built between 1954 and 1958, and based at CFB Esquimalt in Esquimalt, British Columbia, Canada. The vessels are used for training Canadian Forces regular naval officers, naval reservists, and members of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets in basic seamanship, vessel handling, and navigation. According to the Department of National Defence, in 2000, a total of 1830 personnel were deployed on the YAGs for a total of 585 days and steamed over 25,000 nautical miles (46,000 km) in support of training. YAGs displace 70 tonnes, and are divided into five major belowdecks compartments: right forward, a chain locker, then the forward cabin, containing the galley, one of the heads (washrooms) and the officers eating and sleeping areas, as well as the gyroscopic (gyro) compass. Laser bonding is a marking technique that uses lasers and other forms of radiant energy to bond an additive marking substance to a wide range of substrates. Invented in 1997, this patent protected technology delivers permanent marks on metals, glass and ceramic parts for a diverse range of industrial and manual applications, ranging from aerospace to the awards engraving industries. It differs from the more widely known techniques of laser engraving and laser ablation in that it is an additive process, adding material to the substrate to form the marking instead of removing it as in those techniques. For metals, parts can be permanently marked with high contrast, high resolution marks for logos, barcoding, identification and serialization purposes, without damage to the substrate. With glass and ceramics, complex surfaces can be decorated or marked and the traditional firing process replaced by a laser, with its permanent bond fired on in seconds. Laser bonding has been achieved by Nd:YAG, CO2 laser, Fiber laser and Diodepumped solidstate laser and can be made by other forms of radiant energy. Laser bonding is often referred to as CerMark, CerMarked, or CerMarking Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 92 Publication Date: 2010/04/23 Language: English Dimensions: 9.02 x 5.98 x 0.22 inches
Believe it or not, but many people suffer from unwanted hair, or hair in unwanted places on their body. If you are one of these people, then you know the feeling. One of your major concerns is the safe removal of that unwanted hair.
Methods for Removing Unwanted Hair
Up until recently, most people used one of three methods, electrolysis, shaving or waxing. Each of these methods has its own drawbacks. Some are more painful than others are, but the hair grows back at a slower rate. Still the hair always returns with any of the above three methods.
How does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Now we have a laser hair removal procedure that eliminates most of the drawbacks of the other hair removal procedures. Laser hair removal is considered a safe, permanent way of removing hair. However, this procedure is not a cosmetic procedure, but a medical procedure, and as such, you should take the necessary precautions when deciding to get laser hair removal done.
Let’s define how the procedure works before we go into the different types of laser hair removal procedures.
Laser hair removal uses light at special wavelengths to damage the hair follicle so that it won’t grow. The strength of the light used depends on the individual, his skin coloring, hair pigment, etc. The light affects the high pigment in the hair. This is why your doctor will suggest you stay away from the sun, or sun bathing for a three to four week period before undergoing laser hair removal process. This is done so that the hair will not discolor and will have a high pigmentation when undergoing the laser treatment. Otherwise, if your hair has bleached with the sun, the laser may not pick it up and the treatment won’t be effective.
Different Types of Laser Hair Removal
There are five different types of laser hair removal procedures that can be done.
• Ruby Laser -- This is the oldest type of laser hair removal and it really works the best on very fine, light hair. It does not work very well with people who have dark or tanned skin. This is probably the reason this procedure is the least favorite of all laser hair removal procedures.
• Alexandrite laser -- This is the laser treatment that takes the shortest amount of time. It works well with patients who are light skinned or even olive skinned. This procedure is mostly used because it works with most people.
• Diode Laser -- This laser procedure works with all types of people, but its best benefit is that it works with people who are dark skinned and people who have coarser hair. It can cover large areas very quickly.
• Long Pulse Nd:Yag Laser -- This procedure can be used or all skin types, even on tanned skin. The fast repetition of this laser allows large areas to be covered in very small amounts of time. The disadvantages to this treatment is that it does not work as well with fine hair, and people tend to feel a little more discomfort with this procedure than with the others.
• Devices of Intense Pulsed Light -- These are not really lasers, but they work in very similar ways. This device is a little more intricate to work and require a very skilled person to use it, but it works on all skin types and hair types.
Which Type of Laser Hair Removal is the Best?
About the Author
Since every person is different, and we all have different skin coloring, hair growth and hair type, it is reasonable to understand that types of cosmetic procedures that need to be used will differ from person to person. It is therefore best to ask the experts at the laser hair removal center or where the cosmetic surgery is performed.
