Transistor Diode Tester
how do I fix very shrunk horizontal picture on my tv?
I tested the horizontal HOT transistor with my vom diode tester, but it doesn't read like a transistor/makes no sense, so I bought a new part and the new part reads just like the old part!(nte 2302 t-npn, si horizontal output w/internal damper diode) why does it read like that and what could be the problem? help.
what are in tv now adays are called intigrated Horizontal output transistors. the will not read like a normal transistor due to an internal damper diode and an internal bias resistor from emitter to base which usaully measures about .2 ohms. If you have shrunken Horizontal deflections it could be a couple of things. One of them most common being poor regulation of the main B+ power supple to the transistor. it depends on the set but it should read about 130 VDC. With a model number I can't help you locate the exact problem. I know on some panasonics the HV mylar caps have a tendency to change value and cause problems like that. I would first measure your B+ on the collector of that horz output transisor (H.O.T for short), and make sure its correct.
