Physics - Forming Images with a Plane Mirror?
For a corner reflector to be effective, its surfaces must be precisely perpendicular. Suppose the surfaces of a corner reflector left on the Moon's surface by the Apollo astronauts formed a 90.00002° angle with each other. If a laser beam is bounced back to Earth from this reflector, how far (in kilometers) from its starting point will the reflected beam strike Earth? For simplicity, assume the beam reflects from only two sides of the reflector, and that it strikes the first surface at precisely 45°.
With the error stated the third angle of the corner triangle would be 180 - 45 - 90.00002 = 44.99998o
So the angle of incidence on the reflector will be 90 - 44.99998 = 45.00002o
So the error will be 0.00002o ...Using the mean Earth-moon radius to b 3.48x10^5km ...
we have s = r*θ = 3.84x10^5km*(0.00002*(2π rad /360o) = 0.134km

Can mirrors reflect a powerful laser beam or do the mirrors get distroyed?
Can an ordinary mirror serve as a defense shield against powerful laser beams? What happens when a powerful laser beam hits the surface of a mirror? Is the beam reflected or is the mirror destroyed?

depends how good the mirror is and specifically how much of the wavelength of the laser light is reflected, as a percentage. If it reflects 100%, it will be fine. If it reflects less than 100% (and no mirrors are perfect), then it depends. How much energy is in the laser beam? How long does the laser beam shine on the mirror? What is the mirror made of (ordinary mirrors are usually Ag thin film deposited on glass). Ag is the element with the best reflection of visible light. There may be other materials that would be better than Ag for the particular wavelength but it depends on wavelength.
