Stepper Actuator

Power steering modification.. would it work?
My Citroen Saxo's power steering is too over assisted, If I reduced the voltage to the electro hydraulic power steering pump would the PAS have reduced assistance?
Im thinking I might need to fit a stepper motor controlled actuator valve or solenoid but I dont know enough about hydraulics to know for sure..
Thanks..
I don't think that's a good idea. The emergency responsiveness may be greatly compromised. Citroen is famous for it's no feeling steering and brakes.

Actuator $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles An actuator is a mechanical device for moving or controlling a mechanism or system. It takes energy, usually transported by air, electric current, or liquid, and converts that into some kind of motion. The efficiency of an actuator is a standard tool used to calculate or estimate the usefulness of any actuating mechanism. It is a dimensionless quantity which is generally lower than 1 expressing the energy conversion factor. For better explanation see Thermodynamic efficiency. Most of the wasted energy (due to friction, magnetic losses, eddy currents, whatever) is thermally dissipated. High Speed Linear Actuator using Stepper Motors
Typical Actuator arm length for hard drives and how hot they get?
I'm doing a research paper on hard disks and i need help in finding an approximate length of an actuator arm for a stepper motor. Also how hot do these stepper motors get? I need all this info cause i need to be able to calculate the change in length using the equation, L= alpha x initial length x (Change in) Temp.
I don't know about the heat, but in terms of the size, figure the actuator arm has to be able to seek to any concentric ring (track) over the surface of the disk. Kind of like a DJ's turntable playing a record.
Typical hard disk sizes (in terms of the diameter of the disk platter(s)) currently in use are 3.5" for desktops and 2.5" for notebooks. There are also some microdrives in the Compact Flash form factor whose platters are 1.8" I believe.
I guess the question you are trying to answer, is how much does the length of the arm carrying the read/write head, change over temperature, as that will affect where the head is positioned over the platter...your control algorithm would have to account for that if you need very precise positioning (for a higher media density). I have no idea if drives do this or not - it would also mean a pretty accurate temperature sensor.
