Simple Diode Circuits
Please explain what a diode is, in really simple english (first year physics, in context?
also, when you graph V against I (with diode in circuit) is it curved line or straight, and why?)

An ideal diode is a one-way conductor of electrical current, analogous to a check valve. A graph of I (vertical) vs. V (horizontal) in a circuit with a resistor, diode and variable voltage source in series would be a horizontal line, I = 0, when voltage is any value in the reverse polarity, and a constant-slope line, I = V/R, when voltage is any value in the forward polarity.
You asked for simple english, and the above is slightly oversimplified for the ideal diode. In forward conduction a real diode has a slight voltage drop across it. So the start of the sloped line isn't at 0 V but at a few tenths of a volt.

Simple Solar Battery Charging System
Lead acid battery Charging circuit??
Ok well I'm trying to charge a 12V 4.5AH/ 10 hour lead acid battery.
At the moment I have it connected to a DC with a few simple diodes to stop reverse current/voltage flow @ 330mAH its taken 4 days to charge and just charged past 12.66V. I have two of these batteries and it’s not very particle when I need the plug. I need a simple battery charging circuit- but I DON’T want it to include IC chips or bridge refractors just simple that I can build in 10 mins. I’ve googled circuits ECT but can’t find any.
Do you know any circuits/ web links ect ?
Because I’m probably just going to end up getting a charger from a shop.

P.S. I was thinking of making my own petrol to save going to the garage for it.
