Micromachined UltrasoundBased Proximity Sensors

Micromachined UltrasoundBased Proximity Sensors

$253.31

Micromachined UltrasoundBased Proximity Sensors presents a packaged ultrasound microsystem for object detection and distance metering based on micromachined silicon transducer elements. It describes the characterization, optimization and the longterm stability of silicon membrane resonators as well as appropriate packaging for ultrasound microsystems. Micromachined UltrasoundBased Proximity Sensors describes a costeffective approach to the realization of a micro electro mechanical system (MEMS). The micromachined silicon transducer elements were fabricated using industrial IC technology combined with standard silicon micromachining techniques. Additionally, this approach allows the cointegration of the driving and readout circuitry. To ensure the industrial applicability of the fabricated transducer elements intensive longterm stability and reliability tests were performed under various environmental conditions such as high temperature and humidity. Great effort was undertaken to investigate the packaging and housing of the ultrasound system, which mainly determine the success or failure of an industrial microsystem. A lowstress mounting of the transducer element minimizes thermomechanical stress influences. The developed housing not only protects the silicon chip but also improves the acoustic performance of the transducer elements. The developed ultrasound proximity sensor system can determine object distances up to 10 cm with an accuracy of better than 0.8 mm. Micromachined UltrasoundBased Proximity Sensors will be of interest to MEMS researchers as well as those involved in solidstate sensor development. Automotive Radar Sensors in Silicon Technologies (Hardcover)

Automotive Radar Sensors in Silicon Technologies (Hardcover)

$277.83

One of the leading causes of automobile accidents is the slow reaction of the driver while responding to a hazardous situation. State-of-the-art wireless electronics can automate several driving functions, leading to significant reduction in human error and improvement in vehicle safety. With continuous transistor scaling, silicon fabrication technology now has the potential to substantially reduce the cost of automotive radar sensors. This book bridges an existing gap between information available on dependable system/architecture design and circuit design. It provides the background of the field and detailed description of recent research and development of silicon-based radar sensors. System-level requirements and circuit topologies for radar transceivers are described in detail. Holistic approaches towards designing radar sensors are validated with several examples of highly-integrated radar ICs in silicon technologies. Circuit techniques to design millimeter-wave circuits in silicon technologies are discussed in depth.

NonCrystalline Silicon for Uncooled Infrared Detection

NonCrystalline Silicon for Uncooled Infrared Detection

$176.84

The increasing popularity of infrared (IR) detectors in thermal imaging and pollution control is progressively stimulating the industry to enhance the detection efficiency, and ultimately the performancecost ratio of IR cameras. Developing new IRsensitive materials, operating at room temperature without cooling, is undoubtedly a winning strategy which this book adopts by investigating the properties of noncrystalline silicon, with emphasis on borondoped hydrogenated amorphous silicon, used as resistive material for microbolometers. The contents are combined in order to drive professionals in IR sensors, as well as material scientists and graduate students in applied physics and engineering, from basic design parameters, such as temperature coefficient of resistivity and noise, down to the specifications for material deposition. Featuring a blend of theory and experiments (Raman spectroscopy, Xray diffraction, optical absorption and resistivity measurements), the analysis encompasses the effects of BCl3doping and hydrogenation on the electronic structure, phonon spectra and electrical transport of amorphous and microcrystalline silicon materials. Silicon Nitride

Silicon Nitride

$79.66

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Silicon nitride (Si3N4) is a chemical compound of silicon and nitrogen. It is a hard ceramic having high strength over a broad temperature range, moderate thermal conductivity, low coefficient of thermal expansion, moderately high elastic modulus, and unusually high fracture toughness for a ceramic. This combination of properties leads to excellent thermal shock resistance, ability to withstand high structural loads to high temperature, and superior wear resistance. Silicon nitride is mostly used in highendurance and hightemperature applications, such as gas turbines, car engine parts, bearings and metal working and cutting tools. Silicon nitride bearings are used in the main engines of the NASAs Space shuttles. Thin silicon nitride films are a popular insulating layer in siliconbased electronics and silicon nitride cantilevers are the sensing parts of atomic force microscopes.
