Knitting in the Round Part 1: Double Pointed Needles
About my New Sony Vaio Laptop CW series*? or about laptop fans, I'm seriously confused.?
Ok i'm missing something i can't figure out. I own a Toshiba A300 model laptop in the past bought back in 2007, And underneath it it has circular vents which is for the fan obviously, and exhaust is the side. it was a 1.80GHz proccessor,
What i'm wondering my new Sony Vaio which is 2010 model. Intel Core i5 2.30GHz with upto 2.93GHz turbo boost. is that this new laptop doesn't have any vent's or any circular vents underneath it AT ALL!
But there is a wind blowing from the side but not as strong as my toshiba blows, i mean intel core i5 needs more cooling than my pentium 4 1.8GHz laptop so why does my sony vaio has very few vent and sounds like there no fan exist at all ?? O,o any ideas?
Or someone explain it to me what's with the laptop designs? is this part of modern laptops or what?
I mean i'm afraid if it exceeds the speed of 2.93GHz it would melt down or burn or overheat because of the faulty design or LACK OF VENTS!!
The P4 was a crazy processor in terms of power usage. As time goes buy, manufacturing improves. Your i5 is built in a 32 nanometer process. The P4 was likely built using a 65nm process which is double the size and so puts out much more heat. Don't worry about it.....if you're still worried, download this free utility called RealTemp. It will show you your CPU temperatures from a temp. probe located on the laptop's board itself and if it usually runs between below 60 degrees C, then its okay. When loading your machine, you might go over 60 but you shouldnt hit like 80 degrees or even 75, thats too hot for a laptop. These temp predictions are based off my 45nm processor so yours might be even better.
