also overall is enigneering physics well paid on average throughout all the jobs you can get and are there plenty of jobs out there cause im hoping to stay on a-level for maths, physics and engineering =)
That's a very difficult question, because those are very varied jobs you gave there. I think you should start broadly and decide where to go as you learn about each one.
My first impression: Don't go into engineering just because of the money. It's not that the money isn't good, it's just that the course is hard, and you need to have some interest in what you're doing. You don't see many medical students spending 5 years becoming a doctor because of the salary, because to spend 5 years doing something, you have got to have more than 'money' to interest you. You gotta be interested in your subject, it makes it bearable. Right, that's that over
Engineering is well paid in general, and it is in demand all around the world. Want to go to USA? Be an engineer there. Feel like a trip to Japan? Get a job building stuff for them. Few countries have 'too many engineers'. It's also a very satisfying job as you are usually really helping, and making big differences.
As for what is best, that is like trying to tell the future. You can't predict what people will want to build or make in 5 years time, but you can sort of feel where the money is going. Right now, there is a lot of money going into cleaner energy of all kinds. Power plants, cars, electricity and nuclear stuff particularly.
Besides that, you might have noticed your phone is as powerful as a computer was 5 years ago - computing and electrical engineering is also huge business, but this is more competitive as there are plenty of people trying to make the ipad 3.
Physics is like the dad of engineering. Physics is about discovery and exploration, but not necessarily for a point, or to make money. Physics is about finding out how things work, and engineers then use that. If it's money you want physics is a bad choice, but if you really want to understand what you're doing you'll have to learn some!
I hope you get lucky and get good A levels, we need more like you! It might seem boring at times but they're more useful than the alternatives, trust me!

Semiconductor Lasers I (Hardcover) $256.23 This book covers the device physics of semiconductor lasers in five chapters written by recognized experts in this field. The volume begins by introducing the basic mechanisms of optical gain in semiconductors and the role of quantum confinement in modern quantum well diode lasers. Subsequent chapters treat the effects of built-in strain, one of the important recent advances in the technology of these lasers, and the physical mechanisms underlying the dynamics and high speed modulation of these devices. The book concludes with chapters addressing the control of photon states in squeezed-light and microcavity structures, and electron states in low dimensional quantum wire and quantum dot lasers. The book offers useful information for both readers unfamiliar with semiconductor lasers, through the introductory parts of each chapter, as well as a state-of-the-art discussion of some of the most advanced semiconductor laser structures, intended for readers engaged in research in this field. This book may also serve as an introduction for the companion volume, Semiconductor Lasers II: Materials and Structures, which presents further details on the different material systems and laser structures used for achieving specific diode laser performance features.* Introduces the reader to the basics of semiconductor lasers* Covers the fundamentals of lasing in semiconductors, including quantum confined and microcavity structures* Beneficial to readers interested in the more general aspects of semiconductor physics and optoelectronic devices, such as quantum confined heterostructures and integrated optics* Each chapter contains a thorough introduction to the topic geared toward the non-expert, followed by an in-depth discussion of current technology and future trends* Useful for professionals engaged in research and development* Contains numerous schematic and data-containing illustrations |
