Scr Circuit Diode
Scr Circuit Diode
connecting a positive potential source to an anode &a negative source to the end w/ identification markings?

will result in a(n)
a. failed diode
b. forward-biased diode
c. open SCR
d. closed-loop circuit that bypasses the component

i don't think it's the last two..but i'd say B..im guessing the side with identification markings is the cathode -_-;

Oscilloscope Tutorial: AC frequency motor drive testing

What do i use when the schematic says SCR's?

I am trying to build an inverse parallel SCR driver circuit. I cannot figure out what they mean by SCR on the schematic. Here is the fairchild website http://www.fairchildsemi.com/pf/MO/MOC3031-M.html for the triac i am using. I want to use the MOC3031 and i figured out all the values, i just don't know what they mean by SCR. It looks like a diode with three legs.
Thank you all in advance for your help!

It's sort of a high current transistor used for switching. It works like a relay but is much faster. A single SCR would just switch current in one direction. To switch DC in both directions or switch AC you'd need two SCRs in parallel or a triac, which is two SCRs in one package.
Just make sure the SCR or triac you buy is good for the voltage and current it'll be seeing.
