Reverse Voltage Diodes

How can I fix an SNES with reverse-current damage?

I accidentally plugged in a cheap-o AC adapter of the correct voltage and amperage "backwards" (wrong polarity) into an SNES, and now it's shot. I suspect it's a problem caused by a diode, since there is no indication power is getting to anything inside.

I'd like to do the repairs myself, unless it's a major chip frying. This particular SNES has a ton of sentimental value, and is mentally irreplaceable.
After searching around, I now have an idea that (maybe) a fuse inside might've fried. The system does act like a safeguard blew out... Now if only I could make a gamebit...

This is why you dont use non specified power supplies. You've cooked it, a current through a complex system like a game console (even an old one at that) isnt good. You've most likely fried a couple of small components and possibly some more major ones (IC's, transistors, etc) so its not a DIY job. Your SNES is now an unusable museum piece. A second hand one isnt very expencive, just hover round a few second hand stores or e-bay and see if they have any.
