How do I connect my Philips TV to Sony receiver?
I want to connect my sony surround sound receiver to my new Philips 42PFL3603D/F7 LCD TV. I want to connect it via my receivers optical input, but it appears my TV's audio output is "SPDIF OUT". I've never even heard of this? Are there optical to SPDIF cables? Thanks in advance!
s/pdif is digital audio out.
If your TV has a little plastic protector on top of the SPDIF port, take it out and connect an optical cable. If it is an RCA plug, then connect a "coax" audio cable (although any RCA cable should work just fine..).
Your Sony receiver should have both coax and optical digital audio inputs, so just get the cable you need.

The RF module is used to monitor and control optical output power, LD bias current, received optical power, input and output RF signal power of Master, received FSK signal power and RF Gain control through the MCU. It is also used for RoHS compliant products.
The optical module for the repeater includes a linear analog PD with high sensitivity and a high power DFB laser, a low noise, linear RF amplifier, as well as built-in Bi-Di components and FSK monitor. 9.6 and 19.2kbit/s data rates are provided for selection.
