Prism Laser Optics Where can I buy an Optics kit with mirrors/prisms for my laser?
I know that Wicked lasers has one but I was looking for something cheaper and/or with more stuff (mainly mirrors). ANY suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Edmund Scientific [See source.] supplies all kinds of scientific equipment. I used them as a kid to set up my own lab in the basement of my house.
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. In optics, a prism is a transparent optical element with flat, polished surfaces that refract light. The exact angles between the surfaces depend on the application. The traditional geometrical shape is that of a triangular prism with a triangular base and rectangular sides, and in colloquial use prism usually refers to this type. Some types of optical prism are not in fact in the shape of geometric prisms. Prisms are typically made out of glass, but can be made from any material that is transparent to the wavelengths for which they are designed. A prism can be used to break light up into its constituent spectral colors (the colors of the rainbow). Prisms can also be used to reflect light, or to split light into components with different polarizations. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In geometry, the octagonal prism is the sixth in an infinite set of prisms, formed by square sides and two regular octagon caps. If faces are all regular, it is a semiregular polyhedron. In optics, octagonal prisms are used to generate flickerfree images in movie projectors. It is also an element of two fourdimensional uniform polychora: the omnitruncated tesseract and runcitruncated tesseract. A right prism is a prism in which the joining edges and faces are perpendicular to the base faces. This applies if the joining faces are rectangular. If the joining edges and faces are not perpendicular to the base faces, it is called an oblique prism. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Principles of Laser Spectroscopy and Quantum Optics is an essential textbook for graduate students studying the interaction of optical fields with atoms. It also serves as an ideal reference text for researchers working in the fields of laser spectroscopy and quantum optics. The book provides a rigorous introduction to the prototypical problems of radiation fields interacting with two- and three-level atomic systems. It examines the interaction of radiation with both atomic vapors and condensed matter systems, the density matrix and the Bloch vector, and applications involving linear absorption and saturation spectroscopy. Other topics include hole burning, dark states, slow light, and coherent transient spectroscopy, as well as atom optics and atom interferometry. In the second half of the text, the authors consider applications in which the radiation field is quantized. Topics include spontaneous decay, optical pumping, sub-Doppler laser cooling, the Heisenberg equations of motion for atomic and field operators, and light scattering by atoms in both weak and strong external fields. The concluding chapter offers methods for creating entangled and spin-squeezed states of matter.Instructors can create a one-semester course based on this book by combining the introductory chapters with a selection of the more advanced material. A solutions manual is available to teachers.Rigorous introduction to the interaction of optical fields with atomsApplications include linear and nonlinear spectroscopy, dark states, and slow lightExtensive chapter on atom optics and atom interferometryConclusion explores entangled and spin-squeezed states of matterSolutions manual (available only to teachers)Paul R. Quartz Crystal And Silica Health Supplements
It is a form of highly synthetic and pure silicon dioxide. Fused silica comes in non crystalline form and it doesn't have any colour. It is a type of silica glass which has less thermal expansion and high transmission power over variety of spectrums especially in ultraviolet. silica is the only pure silica with around 99.4 - 99.9% of silica present in it. This fused silica is mainly used in industries dealing with electronics and they are made by plasma arc, carbon electrode fusion or gas fired continual extrusion and carbon arc. Because of its high insulating and dielectric properties, almost 70% of the electronics industries use silica in its experiments. Some of them also use fused silica in investment casting or as a refractory material as when kept at high temperatures it has a capability to gain back its strength. Because of insulating and dielectric properties, silica is most widely used in electronic circuits.
For various applications, silica comes with different grades. The most important application in which fused silica is used are High Energy Laser Optics where any other optical equipment is nothing compared to the pure silica. Because of its purity and exceptional optical qualities, even if the high energy laser is transmitted it doesn't affect the material much. In the production of prisms, windows and lenses silica is used. Prisms which especially come in the range of 0.16 to 3 vyoms are manufactured using fused silica. Depending on the transmission range, the refractive index may be around 1.55 to 1.40. It has a capability to maintain its strength even at high temperatures and because of this property they are used as a good refractory material. This is mainly because silica has very high melting point, has very high abrasion resistance and low thermal expansion.
How fused silica is manufactured?
silica can be manufactured with the help of two basic steps:
1. Fused silica is produced by the synthesis process. Here the glass is synthesized from the chemicals.
2. With the help of electrical heating or gas, the silica grains are melted which produces fused silica. Depending on the applications, this mixture may be either opaque or transparent.
Advantages:
Different advantages of using silica are as follows:
1. High resistance power to thermal shocks. Even if it is inserted into water directly from red heat, it won't crack.
2. Coefficient value of thermal expansion is very low.
3. High optical transmission power over variety of spectrums especially in ultraviolet.
4. High resistance to chemical substances.
5. Act as great electrical insulation for electrical items and hence it is used in most of the electrical circuits.
6. Less dielectric value and dielectric loss.
The applications in which fused silica are used are windows, mirror substrates, boats, trays, crucibles, lenses, IR transmitting optics, UV transmitting optics and metrology components. It is also used as refractory materials due to its high melting point and great resistance to abrasion and low thermal expansion.
