I just did a clean install of WinXPSP2. PC running great. Not installing SP3 and staying with IE6. Micro. advi?

My PC is an older model who one of mates in a rockband played in he asked me If I would like to have a computer for free. It's Dell Precision 220, but all the parts are new, motherboard, hardrive, etc.I have a ViewSonic 17PS Monitor, works great. I just upgraded to fiber optic with Quest. My question is there anyway to get updated hardware? I'm limited to 256 RAM, I tried a software call Driver Scanner but found it probably does more harm. Can I buy more Ram? Or hardware. I get all maintaince and hardrives for free from my friend. I'm new to PC's so please do not make fun of me.

I think you can upgrade your ram, but not much and is probably rare to find one. For hard drives, I'm assuming it's IDE since they existed since 1983, so you should be able to upgrade it to at least 250GB. Anything else, I'm not so sure of.
