Post Rod
5 weeks post IM rod left Tib Fx op, I scratch my left leg, and skin is broken, a little blood is coming out?
So I just put some fabric bandages and blood is gone. Is it possible for the infection? as open fracture is easy to infect, but my situation is nothing to do with the open fracture, it is post surgery 5 weeks already.
I do rehab medicine, and it probably would not hurt to call your doctor. You may not have had an open fracture, but the area was opened when they placed the rod, and implanted medical devices can cause infection if not properly sterilized or if you had anything going on before or now that you scratched the leg. Have you checked for redness, swelling, "warm to the touch" skin (compare to same spot on other leg), a temperature etc. I have had more than one pt who had to have one rod removed and another one placed because they did not follow up on possible infections soon enough. In fact I recently had one pt go home without a joined hip b/c they removed the implant, and then there was not enough healthy bone left to put in a new prosthetic. It may be nothing, but don't take any chances, at least call the MD. Please!

We need the year make and model of the car and information about the engine. Is it the one that came in the car?
Rod and main bearings when properly torqued in place DO have clearance between the rod journals and main journals. Depending on the engine .0018 - .0025 for the rod bearings and .002 - .0028 for the main bearings. Use "Plastigage" when doubt.
If the first answer were true we'd all be in big trouble!
