-electron microscope - 1970s to 80s just a guess
-polaroid camera - probably 1950s - it reached Britain in 1960s I think

-computer - May be Alan Turing - 2WW
-DNA structure - 1952 Watson and Crick Nobel prize

-transistor - - say 1950s - I got my first trannie [radio] in 1962

Note from this that wars are very productive technologically. As well as the ones marked 2WW, the space race had a lot to do with the cold war.

How can I correct a DVD burner problem?

I recently got a new computer with SuperMulti DVD burner-reader. When I burn a DVD it can be played on a Polaroid DVD player, 2 years old, but not on a Sony one, which is already 8 years old; DVDs burned on my son's computer play in both. My son beleives the laser of my computer is weaker. I use Verbatim Printable DVD-R. What can I do to get better burning?
