How Much for Polarizing Beam Splitter?
I would like to do some experimenting on my own.
How much would it cost for 8 PBS, a downconversion crystal, and a laser of appropriate frequency so the downconverted photons are in the visible frequency range?
PBS cubes are in the neighborhood of 100-200 bucks, a downconversion crystal could mean more than one thing. since you dont have a laser yet you could just buy one that is visible for like 4 dollars at walmart

Can you measure if a photon's wave function collapsed?
In an interferometer using polarizing beam splitters, I understand one of the two exit ports will only be used when the wave function collapses. Can you prepare the photon to use that port by forcing it to be a polarized a certain way before it enters the interferometer?
Will a photon take both paths of an interferometer (with polarizing beam splitters) if it comes in known to be polarized horizontal (or vertical) with respect to the first beam splitter?
First question: Yes.
Second question: No. If the particle is polarized vertically with respect to the beam splitter, it will take the vertical path of the beam splitter. Ditto with the horizontal polarity.
