Can someone send me theory for ATM passive optical network.?

That should explain it...
Simply put, PON (Passive Optical Networking) using ATM protocol (Language) for transport over the fiber. ATM is not the only choices for PON..TDM also is available, the type that my company beta tested about 2-3 years ago.
PON: Can be descibed as a single fiber branching (Tree config) out to multiple end points. The end devices can use diffrent wavelengths to achieve the Up and Down Path. After that, it is a just a typical network.

NextGeneration Passive Optical Networks $114.71 Research and development on optical networks generally and on Passive Optical Networks (PON) particularly have matured considerably. The exponential increase in the demand for bandwidth has exposed many challenges in the last mile that remains the bottleneck in broadband access networks. Currently, Ethernet PON has emerged as the most inexpensive panacea, providing more bandwidth than Cable Modems and Digital Subscriber Lines. Nevertheless, providing fair and efficient Quality of Service (QoS) has always been a major issue due to the undeterministic nature of Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology and the limited 1 Gbps channel speed that EPON relies on; unlike backbone networks that uses the Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology. They are an alternative to broadband. They use Optical fiber to the curb and distribute it via passive components to the rest of the local network. I am not sure that this is being used anywher.
