Optics Red BSA Optics 30mm Red Dot Sight RD30 Scope?
will this scope mount on a horton legend sl cross bow? or do i need to get something else?
I have a Horton cross bow that I put a BSA red do on. Either I had a bad red dot, or the shock of firing the bolt, caused the red dot to become a big red smear. I would check with BSA and see what they say about using it on a cross bow. You might also check your state laws. I discovered I could not hunt with a red dot on a cross bow in my state so I took it and the factory sight off. I shoot instinct on all my other bows, so I'm more comfortable without the red dot or sights, anyway. I hope you have better luck with yours.

Optics Question (10 points)?
Suppose a ray of white light, shining horizontally, enters a prism made of a solid transparent material. Suppose the prism cross-section is an exact equilateral triangle with the base oriented horizontally, as shown in the figure. If the index of refraction of the prism is 1.52000 for red light and 1.52500 for yellow light, what is the angle δ between rays of red and yellow light as they emerge from the prism? Assume that the surrounding medium is a vacuum (free space), so its index of
refraction is 1.00000 for light of all colors. Find the answer to the nearest hundredth of a degree.
The answer is supposed to be 2.84 degrees but i keep getting 0.33 can someone show me how to do this?
also im pretty sure the angle is 60 degrees since its an equilateral triangle thats horizontal and an equilateral triangle only has 60 degree angles
I get that the red light, on passing through the first face, has a refracted angle of about 19° to the normal (say θ). You can then study the triangle at the top formed by the top of the prism and the ray passing through. You should find from that that the ray hits the left side at an angle 60°-θ to the normal of that side (about 41°). Again applying Snell's law there you find it comes out of the prism at about 83° to the normal.
Now do the same for the yellow light (but doing the calculations more accurately!) I get that the difference is 2.83504513° or 2.84° to the nearest hundredth.
--
By the way, you can show that the angle (to the normal) at which the light leaves the prism is
arcsin (¼√(12n²-3)-¼) where n is the index of refraction.
