An inexpensive microscope has a tube length of 12.0 cm and its objective lens is labeled with a magnification of 10 times.

I figured out part A using equation Mo = -L/fo ...

part B asks -What focal length eyepiece lens should the microscope have to give an overall magnification of 150 times...

i got .08 cm...it is not correct someone help..

The magnification of the microscope is M = M(o) x M(e) and so the magnification of the eyepiece is M(e) = 150 / 10 = 15. Also, M(e) = L / f(e) (the eye is relaxed and the image is at the infinity), so f(e) = 0.25 m / 15 = 0.017 m = 1.7 cm.

The angular size of the moon is 0.52 degrees, thus the image projected by the objective lens is just

angle = d/fo

d = fo * angle = 800 * (0.52 * 3.14 / 180) = 7.25 mm

and that is your answer.
