Optical Parts Why does a camera lens have different optical lenses?
I'm curious as to why a camera lens has to have more than one lens inside of it. it has different 'elements' as they are called (is that right?). what is its use in refracting the image or so. i am studying high school physics and then this just came into my mind.
also in some eyeglasses, i see on its side that the lens of the eyeglasses are actually in two parts like they were just stacked together. why is that so?
You should get to optics (geometrical optics) in not too long.
There you'll find that simple (1element) lenses do not form a perfect image of an object.
They introduce defects, called "aberrations". Different shaped lenses have different aberrations which can be used to counteract each other (think of it as two mistakes in opposite directions)
