I own one of these and I can vouch for it, it is a great machine and has always performed excellent. It is extremely reliable.
Battery life is decent but not great, mine lasts for a little over two hours. I keep it plugged in most of the time anyway, so I couldn’t care less, but you might.
Also, the 1 GB of Memory is the minimum required for Windows VISTA, not the optimum. You should be fine for everyday routine, but if you often use several applications at the same time (like I do), you might want to consider upgrading to 2 GB or even 4 GB sometime in the near future.
This is my second VAIO laptop and I have loved both of them, but they do have a tendency to be a bit overpriced. I wouldn’t pay more then $700 - $800 for this model. Look for sales and rebates, they are fairly frequent.
