What speakerrs can I plug straight into my TV?
I want some speakers that will plug straight into my TV. I have L and R Audio outputs, as well as an optical output on my new Samsung LCD, but the sound is very poor. Do I need an amplifier? I dont really want to buy a subwoofer i just want two speakers that will plug straight into the tv, but what cables will I need.
You didn't give enough information to answer the question adequately. You need to check the owner's manual to see if the audio outputs are "line level," in which case you will need an amplifier. Another thing you can do is go to your local Radio Shack or Circuit City store--and bring them as much information as you can. They can get you fixed right up.

Optical Amplifiers A Hybrid Approach $114.71 This book explains the construction of a hybrid amplifier consisted of one stage of Erbium doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) and two stages of RAMAN amplifiers for achieving gain flattening in long haul Density Wavelength Division Multiplexed (DWDM) systems. Well, you should always consider the amp that goes up to 11, you'll get the most sound out of that way. When you reached 10, all you have to do is turn it one more for max, 11.
