Are the people the only reason why Orange County sucks?

I have found so far that everything that I have experienced in the OC (scenery, surf, jobs, ect.) has been positive, except the people. Why are people in the OC so smug, judgmental, and self-centered? They act like they are better than everyone else in So Cal and in the country. Why can't they be cool, friendly, and laid-back like people in San Diego? Most of the people there are not rich (except the idiots in Newport who pay over $3,000,000 for a shack on the beach), so why are ALL people of ALL classes in the OC fake and shallow?

I'm sorry that you have such a low opinion of Orange County.

Yes, there are a lot of fake, shallow, superficial people here in OC. I'd like to think I'm not one of them. I live on a street where I know my nieghbors on my block, and most of them are OK. Please don't judge an entire area based upon a few who fit the stereotype. If you look just a little, you'll find us regular folks out there, not trying to impress anybody, but just living life the best they can.

This much is true: There are always going to be people out there with more money, more stuff, etc, no matter how much (or how little) you have yourself. And yes, some are going to be superficial and full of themselves. But the OC doesn't have a monopoly on these types.

I've found that you can find both types of people wherever you go, whether in SoCal or anywhere else. And I don't buy the excuse that some New Yorkers claim. "Being real" is not an excuse for rudeness. You CAN be real, and still show some manners.

And whether something sucks really is a matter of personal choice. You can look at all the negative things in a place or situation and say it sucks, or try to find what's good and best in a situation. Take the high road, folks. Deal with the things that do suck (superficial people, traffic, etc), and concentrate on the positive things (Great weather, LOTS of things to do, etc).

So tonight, I'll be driving my Chevy pickup to my home in the OC.
