What Windows services are really needed on XP sp2?
I have an IBM thinkpad T-21 that is running Win XP SP2 . I would like to speed it up by removing extra services (services.msc) that I do not need. I use the laptop to go on the Internet, manipulate DVDs, burn DVDs from VCR and Laser discs, burn CDs from records, play CDs, play DVDs Read textbooks on CD Rom, and play vidio games.
IMB Thinkpad is a nice little sturdy machine by the way. There are alot of things you can put on manual,Automatic or Shutdown. Thats stuff your going to have to learn by yourself. There are settings you can "Tweak" too- Its gonna take some learning time and really, most people are just going to offer simple opinions. Im not like that- is what I suggest you find out more IT stuff on Windows XP. You might Want to get nLite as you'll see it on the Tools Page? What you can do is nake a custom .iso of XP- Take out things- Like Media-Control Panels Items & More. I believe thats the route you'll find to suite you best. You can shrink your .ISO by 20-30% ...
