Which Telescope ?

Im looking for a telescope that can see planets, the moon but also the galaxy nubious (sp)
Ive found a Orion SkyQuest XT6 Telescope with Dobsonian Mount Base (and seat).

6" parabolic mirror.

6x30 finder scope.

25mm & 9mm Plöss eyepieces.

Moon filter.

Eyepiece rack.

Dust cap. for £180ish pounds.

Will I see the galaxies ect? Or is this just another 'planet' one with rubbish veiws?

Ditto. Do some research and don't rush this.

Your question indicates that you may have unrealistic expectations of what you can see. No optical telescope will give you the views that you see in the photos in astronomy books. Most galaxies (not all) look like faint thumbprint smudges of light in all amateur scopes. It's important that you gain experience slowly so you're not instantly disappointed because you can't see a rover on Mars or the spiral arms of a galaxy.

Having said that, the scope is a nice one if you know what to expect. Get the biggest aperture you can find, though.

500mm F/8 Mirror Lens Macro 1:2.7X?

So i bought this Camera and Its a Nikon D40 then i bought an Opteka (brand) Mirror Lens
It came with the T-Mount Adapter and 3 Mirror Lens Filters. I put the T-mount Adapter onto the Mirror lens and it fits perfectly (ofcourse) then i hook it onto the camera and i hear the click (that its locked on) and i turn on the camera to take a picture but it says Lens not Attached. Im a bit confused as to what is going on, maybe im doing it wrong? help.

Did you happen to look on page 97 and 98 in your camera manual?

Do that and then call Nikon at 800.NIKON-UX.

You may have purchased one of the very few lenses you cannot use on your camera.

Your mirror lens is 1) a non-CPU lens and 2) has an f/stop smaller than f/5.6. Either one of those two features make it one of the few lenses your camera cannot used on your camera.

I spot checked some of the Nikon DSLR camera bodies and it is not until you get to the Nikon D300, that any metering can be accomplished with on-board light meter. Most Nikon cameras have difficulty auto-focusing any lens slower than f/5.6. The D200, the lens length and aperture must be set in the cameras non-CPU feature in the cameras menu

In the future before you buy any lens, Nikkor or generic, read your owners manual and make sure it is one that will work on your camera. ... or call Nikon and ask 800.NIKON-UX

Of all the reasons to return a lens, not being suitable for your application is one. You have that reason and the other is that the Amazon advert is NOT true; that lens cannot be used on most of the camera bodies listed on the page..

BTW, where did you get the idea that this 500 mm lens is a macro lens?
