Does using an FD lens on EF mount via adaptor degrade image quality much?

I have a DOF adaptor for my video camera which has an EF mount. I want to know if i use an adaptor for FD lenses if the picture quality will be acceptable. I read that the adaptors degrade quality, but if its only by a little i should be ok...i think. The EF lenses are for the most part, beyond my budget where FD i could afford. Thanks in advance.

Since there is a focal length difference in the mounts if you don't have glass in the adapter you will never be able to focus past 20 feet or so.

If there is glass in the adapter it will be a week link, and images will be soft.

I've only read about this but I've yet to hear anything contrary. Other mounts will have the same focal length, so those adapters are fine with no glass and no ill effects. So look for Pentax, Nikon, Petri, Minolta, etc... manual focus, manual aperture (since your camera won't be able to adjust the aperture itself) lenses and a compatible adapter. You will be much happier. Or save up for a decent used EF mount lens.

Oddly enough the FD breach mount was the odd ball.

Cs or C mount for lens on CCTV camera?

Hi can anyone help tell the differance between a CS mount and a C mount for the lens on my cctv camera. i want to change the lens so i get a wider view.but i need to know if its CS mount or C mount to do so please. thanks mac

just because you can purchase C and CS mount lens does not mean your camera uses either one. In fact most cameras do not have removable lens, which is why the instructions does not specify a mount type. Check out your camera, does the lens remove? If so, take it to the camera shop and have them match it with a replacement.
