Mode Fiber
what,s a diffrance between multimode & single mode fiber optic cable?
Single Mode fibers have a small glass core, typically around 9μ. Single Mode fibers are used for high speed data transmission over long distances. They are less susceptible to attenuation than multimode fibers.
Multimode fibers have large cores, usually either 50μ or 62.5μ. They are able to carry more data than single mode fibers though they are best for shorter distances because of their higher attenuation levels.
Single Mode consists of data going down one strand of fiber, where as multimode can consist of multiple strands, allowing for higher bandwidth but not necessarily higher speeds. Most Local Area Networks utilize Multimode fiber because of the higher bandwidth and is a little more rugged. It also costs approximately 3 to 20 dollar per meter less than single mode fiber.

One multi-mode fiber will be the answer?
One. But then you need an optical diplexer. I worked with those things a number of years ago.
