No use for a name - life size mirror
To illuminate an area, adjacent to but out of the glow of a light, what type of mirror would I use?
I have a light mounted on one end of a 3 car garage and want to mount a mirror to direct more light to the far door due to poor illumination.
This is a repeat, but I received only a few conflicting answers. Maybe it'll do better this time- slightly reworded.
If you want to direct more light to a particular spot you could use a concave mirror to collect the 'wasted' light which would ordinarily go off in the opposite direction and reflect it at your target.
If you have a light bulb, light it emitted pretty much uniformly in all directions. If you want to direct this light, you can place the bulb within a concave mirror as shown below,

Where the 0 is the light bulb and the = are the rays of light. It is a rather poor piece of ASCII art, but it illustrates the point well enough.
But remember, by placing a mirror around the bulb, you will be restricting the possible other pathways the light could travel, thereby darkening otherwise lit areas.
