Meter General

What type of meter can you use to get closer to a stolen two way radio when they are using it. ?
The radio is a motorola HT1250 and is programmed to 466.XXXXX MHZ and was stolen and being used inappropriately all day and interfering with business. What kind of device specifically could I use to know where the radio is located when they start transmitting again if they find a way to charge it (they forgot to steal the charger). I know the general area within a 1/4 mile of where the radio is being used. I want to see the signal on the meter get stronger as I walk closer to the person thats using it.
I would suggest talking to your local HAM radio guys. ( Look up the local group for your area on google)
It is possible to triangulate the radio, but you need some seriously fancy equipment to do so... ($$$$$)
There are radio's which do have signal strength indicators built in, but it's not much use for the pin point accuracy you want.

Light Meter $95.59 A light meter is a device used to measure the amount of light. In photography, a light meter is often used to determine the proper exposure for a photograph. Typically a light meter will include a computer, either digital or analogue, which allows the photographer to determine which shutter speed and fnumber should be selected for an optimum exposure, given a certain lighting situation and film speed. Light meters are also used in the fields of cinematography and scenic design, in order to determine the optimum light level for a scene. They are used in the general field of lighting, where they can help to reduce the amount of waste light used in the home, light pollution outdoors, and plant growing to ensure proper light levels. Van Westendorps Price Sensitivity Meter $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The cumulative frequencies are plotted, and PSM advocates claim interpretive qualities exist for any intersecting of the cumulative frequencies for each of the four price categories. Note that the standard method requires that two of the four cumulative frequencies must be inverted in order to have the possibility of four intersecting points. Conventional practice inverts the cumulative frequencies for too cheap and cheap. The general explanation of intersecting cumulative frequencies varies. A common description of the intersections is that the crossing of too cheap and expensive can be the lower bound of an acceptable price range. Some describe this as the point of marginal cheapness or PMC. Similarly, the intersection of the too expensive and cheap lines can be viewed as the upper bound of an acceptable price range. An alternative description is the point of marginal expensiveness or PME. Intersections where there is generally more agreement is the point at which the expensive line crosses the cheap line. General Lee 10 meter CB radio review / overview by CBradiomagazine.com
Does a cat think its owners- and humans in general- are cats?
I was listening to BBC Radio a while back. An animal shrink was saying that, in his opinion, a cat brought up by humans would think they were cats as well.
While it is hard to imagine what a cat thinks, especially in terms of categories, this did not seem to be true.
Our cat Zorro, for example, clearly recognises when another cat comes into our garden and does not seem to like it very much, and defends his territory in a way that he does not do when the man comes to read the gas or electricity meters.
Also, cats in general, seem to be bilingual. There are sounds that they appear to make exclusively to other cats and ones that they make only to humans.
What do you think?
I do believe animals are much more intelligent than we humans give them credit for. In fact, in some small ways they may be more intelligent in some areas. My dog, Boomer, for instance... when I take him for a walk he smells things and hears things I cannot. He seems to be understanding an entirely different dimension that is invisible to me in the same world we live in.
I saw a video on YouTube the other day of a dog who witnessed another dog get hit by a car. The dog risked his life to pull the other dog to saftey... not with his teeth but by wrapping his paws and "arms" around the dog and dragging him out of harms way. This kinds of things turns our concept that animals don't experience emotion or love or have compassion on its head.
Sure your cat knows the difference between cats and humans.
