Magnetic Instrument
I zapped my starter with positive lead from battery. It will not attempt to start. Do I need a starter now?
There was a loose feed coming from what I assume was the starter solenoid to the alternator. I accidently sparked it against the starter while reattaching. Do you think I ruined the magnetic field in the starter? And can this be fixed without a new starter? My instrument panel comes on as does my fuel pump, but nothing else happens when I turn the ignition. This is a 89 chevy w/454.
Sounds like you zapped the alternator. If you tap the starter with a screw driver the starter should work especially since it's a chevy it's very common. I doubt if it's the starter.
