LED Backlight on LCD HDTVs?
Changing the conventional bar-style fluorescent backlight with hundreds of LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) on and LCD HDTV? Can someone talk bout this new technology? I see it brings the contrast way way high in comparison to the 120hz new LCDs. The 120hz LCD HDTVs have around 25,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, in comparison to the LED Backlight with a contrast ratio of 500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Someone who really knows.....how much of a difference do ya think this will make? I have yet to really see this TV's live! Help!!

These TVs are just hitting the market. Few will be available, and they will be very expensive. Right now, I don't think anyone except Sony has them for sale. see link.

CarbazoleBased Emitting Compounds $141.79 Carbazole is a heterocyclic tricyclic aromatic organic compound consisting of two sixmembered benzene rings fused on either side of a fivemembered nitrogencontaining ring. A large number of carbazole derivatives have been designed and synthesized and organic electronic devices based on these derivatives such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), have been investigated. The optical and electrical properties of carbazoles are affected by substitution on the 2, 3, 6, 7 and 9Hpositions. Many carbazole derivatives have sufficiently high triplet energy to make them an efficient host where they can serve as red, green, or blue triplet emitters. What is a resistor? (two questions asked)?
hi,
i was wondering if anybody could explain to me what a resistor is like what it does and stuff also, i was wondering if anybody could tell me where u find resistors such as like a resistor in a light bulb i think (stuff like that for example light emitting diode is in a tv remote stuff like that)

A resistor a device that basically does what it says - it resists the flow of electricity. The larger the resistance, the less current flows through the resistor for a given voltage across it (see Ohm's law).
Theyt are found in almost all electronic devices, and some electrical ones (but not light bulbs, except energy saving ones).
Old fashioned ones look like small striped sausages with 2 wires at the ends. The stripe colours tell you the resistance value. More modern circuits use surface mount resistors which look like little rectangles with silver ends.
You can get variable resistors, such as a volume control on an amplifier. These are also known as potentiometers, or pots for short.
You can also get resistors that vary with temperature (thermistors), light (LDRs) and force (FSRs).
