Light Emitting Diode Efficiency

Which Indian company has formed joint venture with the Latin American Football Corporation to focus on the luc?
Instead of using a filament as the lighting source, like in conventional electric bulbs...
Or gases, like in halogen and fluorescent light bulbs...
This technology shines brighter by using light-emitting diodes or LEDs as the source of illumination.
You may think of LEDs as those little digital displays in pocket calculators and on other electronic devices.
But large LEDs in fact generate an extremely bright light with minimal energy consumption.
The greater efficiency of LEDs reduces the energy demand of lighting systems. And in addition, the LED bulbs also have a longer life.
So overall, replacing conventional light bulbs with LED lighting can cut energy consumption by as much as 90%:
MIC Electronics....It is trading at 39...there was a stock split so it is available at this price....
Second company on their list (equitymaster's) was USHA Martin....
Not too sure about the third company they mentioned in the list....

Light Emitting Silicon for Microphotonics $380.76 A fascinating insight into the stateoftheart in silicon microphotonics and on what we can expect in the near future. The book presents an overview of the current understanding of getting light from silicon. It concentrates mainly on low dimensional silicon structures, like quantum dots, wires and wells, but covers also alternative approaches like porous silicon and the doping of silicon with rareearths. The emphasis is on the experimental and theoretical achievements concerning the optoelectronic properties of confined silicon structures obtained during recent years. Silicon based photonic crystals are in particular considered. An in depth discussion of the route towards a silicon laser is presented. Author: Ossicini, Stephano/ Ossicini, S./ Pavesi, L. CarbazoleBased Emitting Compounds $141.79 Carbazole is a heterocyclic tricyclic aromatic organic compound consisting of two sixmembered benzene rings fused on either side of a fivemembered nitrogencontaining ring. A large number of carbazole derivatives have been designed and synthesized and organic electronic devices based on these derivatives such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), have been investigated. The optical and electrical properties of carbazoles are affected by substitution on the 2, 3, 6, 7 and 9Hpositions. Many carbazole derivatives have sufficiently high triplet energy to make them an efficient host where they can serve as red, green, or blue triplet emitters. Highly fluorescent and stable carbazolebased compounds were synthesized and characterized. Substitution of carbazoles at 3 and 6 position by tertbutyl group enhanced the solubility. Suitably susbtituted carbazoles form highly stable fluorescent organic nanoparticles. The emission of these nanoparticles was reversibly switched on/off in the bluegreen and orangered regions from a change in the ratio of the tetrahydrofuran/water system used in their preparation. Using Light Emitting Diode Arrays as Touch-Sensitive Input and Output Devices (Scott Hudson)
‘Increasing Brightness' Of Led Light
LED Light or Light-Emitting-Diode is a semiconductor device that functions by converting electricity into light. LED Light has been in existence since 60 years; however it has become quite popular as an energy-saving lighting source only recently. As the market for the LED light increases, more efficient and advanced devices are being introduced in the market. Today, LED lights that can offer efficiency as high as 160 lumens, are available in the market. These energy-efficient LED lights devices are being increasingly preferred for different purposes, including residential lighting, office illumination, and lighting in public areas.
The lower eye-friendly brightness of the LED light can be attributed to the usage of low-pressured sodium lights in the device. An example of sodium lights are the bulbs that are used in street lamps. The earlier LED lights were capable of emitting white light only by using the colours blue, red, and green. The white light was emitted by controlling the current transmitted to each colour. However; in 1993, an innovative process by Nichia to emit white light gave a more inexpensive method to generate the white light. The process used a blue indium gallium chip coated with phosphor to generate a wave shift necessary for white light emission from a single diode.
LED light employs the energy generated by the movement of the electrons to generate light. The diodes in LED light are 1/4 th" in diameter each with each consuming about 10 milliamps to emit light at a power of 1/10th of a watt. Light produced by the mechanism of electron movement is more efficient compared to the conventional method that requires fragile filaments to emit light. The possibility of these filaments being broken is more.
Though LEDs are small, grouping of two or more LED lights makes them efficient for use in high intensity applications. LED fixtures have drivers, usually built into them, which enable the fixtures to run on standard power capacity, with a power loss of just 15-20%.
LED light used for residential purposes has an efficiency of about 20 lumens/ watt. The average light emitted by a LED light is more when compared to that of an incandescent light, which exhibits an efficiency of about 15 lumens/ watt. In addition, LED light does not emit as much heat as the conventional bulb. Hence; it can be for diverse applications.
LEDs are also durable than conventional bulbs, the reason for this being the usage of plastic bulbs as containers for the diodes, which generate power in LED lights. These plastic containers are efficient in protecting the diodes. Another characteristic of LED lights attributing to their increasing popularity is their lower power consumption; a LED light consumes 1/3rd less power than conventional bulbs.
LEDs exhibit great unidirectional lighting capability than fluorescent and incandescent bulbs. This means that lighting provided by a LED light when focused on a single direction is efficient than that provided by its conventional counterparts. This capability proves useful in many applications, including illumination of hallways, staircases, art lighting, overhead lighting, landscape lighting, linear lighting (as in lighting areas under kitchen cabinets) and tree-lighting. With advancement in technology, more advanced versions of LED lights are being introduced. With people becoming more and more energy-conscious, the usage of LED lights continues to as increase.
