Laser Power Meter Competitions with my RWS 48 in .22 cal.?
I have a problem, my RWS 48 slightly exceeds the 20 ft lbs limit for field target and metallic silhouette shooting. With a 12.35 gr Beeman Laser velocities are about 880 fps. With a 11.9 gr RWS Hobby, about 900 fps. Since it is 20.25-20.5 ft lbs, they want me to shoot with the 22 rifles. I can knock over the chickens @ 40 meters, but everything else is too heavy to knock over. They let me shoot 22 rifle sized paper targets instead. No fun pings like everyone else. They let me shoot 25 yd paper bulleye targets with the 22's but when I shoot 50 or 100 yard targets, my accuracy is somewhat poor.
With all the "magnum power" 22 and 25 cal air rifles on the market, I understand I can't compete less powerful .177 cal air rifles. They can't understand I can't keep up with 22 firearms. Do you think there will be some some sort of sanctioned events for people that fall between air rifle and rimfire? Who would I contact to plea my case to? Thanks.
Problem is there are not enough people using .22 air rifles.
.177 is pretty much the standard for "competing", while the .22 and larger air rifles are generally used for...other things. In all honesty, the reason behind creating .22 air rifles has little if anything to do with competing. It's more like an air-powered substitute for a .22 short, or maybe a .22 subsonic LR.
The majority of the advantages of the pneumatic .22 have to do with it's ability to take down ...objects.. with greater force than a .177. It is best suited for this use, and for areas where firearm hunting is more restricted or inconvenient...like in a back yard in a densely populated area.

how to relate these information with maximum distance range?
I don't believe there are any green lasers in production that WON'T go 500 meters. That's really not very far.
