Possible to burn a disk form the other side?

I do not know whether this issue has been posted again, I did not find anything similar, but anyway I'm sorry if this is a double post.

Recently, someone told me that it is possible to burn a dvd/cd from the other side(not the one that we usually burn) so that the laser can write on it. I mean that you do not have to write anything with your hand, anyway with a marker, so that you dont make mistakes, have a computer font, whatever

Is this really possible?

This is called LightScribe. Some cds and dvds come ready to be written on with LightScribe.

Nero and other programs allow you to draw graphics and have fancy text written via LightScribe. You need a DVD burner that supports it.

What is laser engraving?

The laser engraving machine uses a beam of light as the engraving tool, so no part of the machinery actually touches the material being engraved.
