ps3 bluray laser diode?
I would like to know where i can find a data sheet for a ps3 bluray laser diode. I need to know the voltage drop across the diode
Check the fcc website. Sony had to file all the specs with the fcc inorder to get approval to produce and sell them in the US.

Burning a laser diode with high voltage
How would I power on a laser from an old CD ROM drive?
I've taken apart a CD ROM drive. I understand the laser is weak, but I'd like to learn more about lasers and how to make them work. I've fully disassembled the entire thing, but I'm not sure how much power to input or how I would even do that.
Is there a standard power voltage?
How would I wire it?
Is it safe enough to do as long as I do not look directly into the lens?
I want to eventually be able to build my own laser lighter from a more powerful diode. Any help would be appreciated - thank you.
You would be better off putting git back together and once working, use tape to bypass the safety function of the drive. this will allow you to generate the laser without a CD and the cover off.
