Is it fine to use an 808 nm laser diode with a 780 nm lens and module?
Is this safe to do, and will this adversely affect the performance of the laser?
It won't affect laser performance. I would check the glass index specifications of the lens to see if there is any chromatic shift you might not anticipate or run a raytrace model with lens design code. A 22nm difference in wavelength is not that big a deal.

By determining the characteristics of the 980nm, 1480nm 1550nm laser sources and ASE (amplified spontaneous emission) at the output of the amplifier used to determine the gain and noise figure of EDFA. This model allows to follow the signal (1550nm), pump (980nm) and ASE as they propagate along the fiber and determine population inversion .The both forward and backward propagation ASE are important in determining the overall gain and noise figure. What Mw is required to set stuff on fire?
Im making a high powered laser module hopefully. I have already designed and tested the circuit on a crappy laser diode. What "mw" laser diode will i need to set things on fire like matches and paper and hairs? lol. Anyways, all answers muchly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think you mean mW, not MW, they are very different.
You should know that lasers of this power (probably 50-100mW) are very dangerous. A chance reflection off a shiny object can hit your eye, or someone else's and cause permanent eye damage. Always use the proper eye protection, for you and everyone else in the room, and never use it in a room with windows. Keep it locked up.
