Holders Driver
Is it legal to be a designated driver in Massachusetts with a permit?
I mean the person with the permit is sober and the person over 21 in the passenger seat is over .08. If the driver gets pulled over could the adult for permit holder get in trouble even though the driver is sober?
But the handbook just says that a licensed person over 21 needs to be in the passenger seat and that they need to have 1 year of driving experience. It says nothing about intoxication or anything by those lines.
Where does it say that the adult can't be intoxicated?
No. Not legal. Mass law doesn't recognize a permitted driver as a legal driver of a vehicle when the only other licensed driver is incapacitated as the driver. The person considered in "legal operation" of the car is still the adult. If that adult isn't fit to drive, neither are you.

Why do vehicals have hand holders over the passanger seats?
I'm sitting and there's a handle there for me to reach up and grab onto ... even the driver's side has them ... What are they for? Who would use them in what circumstances?
If you have trouble getting in and out of the car like most elderly, you can use it to help you get out. My mother does.
If you are riding with my mother, it's a safe place to grab when she runs that red light, doesn't see that stop sign, or fails to signal for a turn.
Take your pick.
