High Power Red Laser Diodes Guys i need your help so bad. Can you try to figure out the ohms of resistor i need?
I made a laser burner, its working but for a minute, the resistor burned out.
I have a 660nm-200mW laser diode ( red)
High output power: 350mW(pulse)
High efficiency: 0.95W/A (typ.)
Visible light: 660nm (typ.)
im using a 9.6v as operating voltage
But i dont know how to figure out the ohms resistor i need and the operating current.
it says something like "standard pulse light output of 350mW" and or something like "highly and reliable high-power operation at 75 }c.
is the 350mW the operating current, or the 75}c?
and what ohms of resistor do i need to use. because i tried a 7.5 ohm resistor, and it works, but suddenly a couple of tries, it burned out.
The supplier should be able to tell you the operating current and any other infortmation you require.
And no, 350mW is not a current it is power, the pulsed (intermittent) power which the diode can produce.
Without knowing the recommended operating current it is impossible to calculate the value of the necessary resistor.

Okay, just about everyone has a red laser pointer. Heck, we even sell a fine one here at ThinkGeek.
