High Diode
With multiple Voltaic Piles, how do I isolate cells to charge a large capacitor?
With multiple Galvanic/Voltaic Pile, how do I isolate cells to charge a large capacitor?
I previously built a Voltaic Pile which fully charges a 100microfarad Electrolytic Capacitor in as little as 10 minutes, to 12 hours depending on temperature, sunlight etc..
I have just built another 5 of the same cell. And want to isolate their individual outputs (which each go to a small capacitor) somehow. And when each reaches a certain voltage (say 0.3 or 0.8 volt) feed their individual outputs into a large capacitor say 10millifarad.
I planned to try a BC548 transistor to isolate each cell, but I wonder if the current would be too low and other problems with such a slow rate of charge.
Any idea whether a transistor could be used. Or some other component/IC. A diode has too high of a voltage drop I think as it may consume all the available power?
Basically I want to pump the power from each cell's storage capacitor, to a big shared capacitor. Is this possible somehow?
Any ideas?
I use a voltage divider and get the voltage I require.

I want to build a high voltage power supply using a 1.5 AA battery?
I want to build a power supply similar to the circuitry inside of a disposable camera. I've searched on google for different circuits and I haven't had much luck. I want the circuit to be simple, and I am trying to get it to run off of a low voltage imput. I was hoping to get it to work using only a transformer that doesn't have a feedback winding in it, some transistors and some diodes. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
You should rig a ballast from a flouresent light. Did you know that they have an input of 120V but when it comes to sparking the gas and making the light the ballast produces a voltage of around 65,000 volts? Impressive but be careful, I don't think you'll get much time out of the 1.5 AA battery. You should definetly let me know how that turns out.
