The development of high power fiber laser and technologies are covered in this thesis. The first part of the thesis simulates the signal gain spectrum in an erbiumytterbium fiber amplifier, which can be implemented in fiber laser systems to generate high power output. The second part proposes the use of gainguided (GG) optical fibers to achieve high power modelocked fiber lasers. The spatialtemporal pulse propagation in the GG fiber is simulated; self focusing, and selfphasemodulation in this type of fiber is studied. The third part discusses phase locked fiber laser designs. Selfimaging in optical fibers is simulated; the results provide a guide to the phaselocking fiber laser system design. The last part of the thesis investigates cylindrical vector (CV) beams generation from fiber laser system using a birefringent crystal. How do I power a 5mW HeNe Red Laser?
I have looked at this web address, but nothing there seems to apply to my power supply??
I have an older 5mW HeNe Red laser tube, and the power supply. I wired it up, and nothing happened. My dad said the tube SHOULD be good still, and he knows the power supply is good. Problem is, how to I wire the 115v AC to the power supply? there are no markings on the PS, only the "High Voltage" warning. There are a number of wires... one solid green (ground i assume), 2 solid white, one solid yellow, 1 white & red, and one white and black.
I tried hooking the 115v (from standard outlet) to the white & black and white & red wires.
Nothing happens... bad tube?? bad PS??

I believe the output is 1600vDC
be careful about hooking up wires wrong. trace the wires into the supply to see what components they connect to. are there any markings on the PS that tell what voltage it uses? it could be a dual-tap transformer that can use multiple voltages, and that might be what the extra wires are from. They could also be for an "off/on" switch or for a rheostat to adjust output (its hard to guess)
also try looking up the model number of the supply if you have it
PS: what is the output of the power supply?, what voltage is the laser expecting to receive?
based on those diagrams you can probably just build your own power supply. (seems like it is also an oscillator?)
