The screen is 2.55 m away from the slits. Find the distance along the screen, measured from the centerline, that corresponds to the second bright fringe (m = 2). The index of refraction of water is 1.33.

Condition for a bright fringe is the path difference is an integral multiple of wavelength.
xd/D = nλ
Inside water the optical path has to be taken. Hence,
μxd/D = nλ
The distance of the second bright fringe from the central line
x = Dn λ/μd = (2.55*2*633*10^-9)/(1.33*0.0142*10^-2)
...= 0.0171 m = 1.71 cm
