Green Laser Surgery

I'm sick of my glasses, but contacts scare the heck out of me?
I've worn glasses for years and I'm sick of them. I've wanted contacts for ages but I've gone in twice to get them and each time came out empty handed and rather green. When they try to put them in my eyes I full out freak and feel like I'm going to faint- its like my entire being is rejecting the idea of having anything near my eyes. For the same reason I dont think I could handle laser surgery. (Could so meone describe that process, though? I dont know much about it) I don't know what to do or how to overcome my fear... help?
I've tried for years to get contacts and I'm 21. I couldn't do it either. I love my glasses though, they're changed alot since I was 8 years old and have gotten way more fashionable. Now i'm no longer known as the girl with big round glasses to "the girl with the really cute armani glasses" (they're not as expensive as you'd think..especially covered by insurance)
the best thing I would say is try to stay relaxed, go with someone that's comforting to you, not someone who is going to stand behind you and huff and puff when you've been trying for an hour straight to get the contact in (aka my mother)
most places will not do laser surgery on you until you are about 24. I'm just in the process of counting down the days. the only thing i'm scared of is while they give you drops, you are awake. But I figure I'll be over the fear of that when I get to think of myself not having to wear glasses anymore.

Soft Tissue Laser Surgery $76.47 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In soft tissue laser surgery, interaction of laser light with the soft tissue provides a special approach to surgery. A highly focused laser beam vaporizes the soft tissue with the high water content. Laser can make very small incisions when the beam is focused on the tissue (focal spot size can be as small as 0.1 mm, but the most widely used in practice is 0.4 mm). When the beam is defocused, the intensity of the laser light on the tissue diminishes, and it can be used for cauterization of small blood vessels and lymphatics, therefore decreases postoperative swellings. Laser Surgery by Evelyn, Columba Sara [Paperback] $65.33 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Laser surgery is surgery using a laser to cut tissue instead of a scalpel. Examples include the use of a laser scalpel in otherwise conventional surgery, and soft tissue laser surgery, in which the laser beam vaporizes soft tissue with high water content. Laser resurfacing is a technique in which molecular bonds of a material are dissolved by a laser. Laser surgery is commonly used on the eye. Techniques used include LASIK, which is used to correct near and farsightedness in vision, and photorefractive keratectomy, a procedure which permanently reshapes the cornea using an excimer laser to remove a small amount of tissue. Galaxy Wand Green Laser Pointer $49.99 It's no secret that we monkeys love lasers. Lasers are pretty darn cool in our opinion, and really, whose opinion do you value more than ours? (We'll give you a moment to think...) Exactly. We thought so. Even though lasers have become widely available and pretty inexpensive, we're still all about lasers. They're just fascinating. Just about every application of lasers we can think of gets our stamp of approval. Laser light shows, DVD players, laser surgery, and laser-based research are all good in our book. This laser projects a green pattern that is very reminiscent of a star field. Just twist the front cap and the pattern changes from lightly speckled to a dense field of stars. So pretty... shiny... come to think of it, how close are monkeys to cats, DNA-wise? |

100mW Green Laser surgery on a balloon dog!
When I was younger I received laser eye surgery and now it's common for me to see a green light.?
When I was younger I was hit directly in the eye with a tennis ball. I immediately went to the eye doctor and he told me that I needed to receive laser eye surgery or else my retina was going to detach from my eye. After surgery, it is common for me to see a green light flash in the corner of my eye, usually when at night or in dark areas. Is there a reason why this occurs?
OMG! You're the first person I've ever heard of that sees the same thing as me!
I dettached my retina in December of last year, so I am pretty much fully recovered. (surgery was about 2 months ago).
When I stand up or sit down too fast in dim lighting I see a lime green light move from the inner corner of my eye to the outside. I asked my specialist about it last week and he told me it was a common side effect from the buckle in your eye.
So everything is fine, its just very annoying huh?
