Green Laser Rail
Should I use a 12 mW or 20 mW green laser on my AR-15?
I am currently interested in buying an AimShot green laser for the side rail on an AR-15, but I do not know whether to buy the ls8200 (12 mW) or ls8300 (20mW). I want the dot to be able to be seen up to atleast 25yards during broad dailight, but it would be nice to have it extend to 50yards.
Will either of these do this?
Is the 20mW overkill?
Will the 12mW's battery life outweigh its lack of power?
You really want the red one in 20mm. But read on - maybe green is good for your application.
The only plus to a green laser is it does not bloom in the NightVision Goggles like the red diode models. Unless you have NVG's - you do not need a green laser.
The human eye is more sensitive to the color green than blue or red. In fall, winter, and night the green laser is great - but - red is good too. In the Spring, Summer and early Fall - the red is easier to see since all the grass and foliage is green.
The only advantage a green laser has is when going more than 50 yards.
If you simply using this at the rifle range and home defense - either color is fine.
The 12mw is designed for CQC - Close Quarters Combat - this less powerful diode is designed to not distract or blind the shooter when doing a dynamic entry into a home, office, or confined space. This is a good choice for home defense.
If you want a laser for the range - bear in mind many state prohibit the use of these for hunting - again, any color will do. You will need the extra power of the 20mw laser diode for outdoors in bright sun. Although the 12mw will be visible at 25 yards - you won't see it at all at 50yards unless you are shooting on a very overcast day or at night.

AR-15 M4 Accessories Questions?
I currently have a M4 style Olympic Arms AR-15 .223 (556)
I am looking to put rails on it to put a support hand second grip however my fiberite hand guard has no rails
(my hand guards shown on the link.)

My question is do I necessarily need rails to add my secondary grip or is there some unconventional way I am unaware of? Secondly where do I purchase these accessories, cheaply? Links will be appreciated.
Also does anyone know where I can get a laser attachment at a reasonable price, that won’t eat batteries? Preferably a green laser.
Cheaper than dirt has a rail and handgrip for like $7. You just screw the rail to the handgaurd. Got one but never sued it. And a word to the wise. You get what you pay for.
