Green Laser Eye Protection
Can a laser with an infrared light filter still have the ability to burn you retina?
If I was to get a 100 -150 mw green laser that has an infrared light filter and get laser safety glasses to block the laser light by color and wavelength, is there a chance that small wavelenghts of infrared light that usually escape through the filter (1-4nm) can burn my retinas? Am I safe with by buying a laser that has an infrared filter and plus buying laser safety glasses that protect my eyes against the green laser and is the right wavelength protection/
It is a green diode laser. The wicked lasers web site says how green lasers use a diode that is infrared. Because of that, they use infrared filters on all their lasers.
you can buy glasses that block both infrared as well 532 nm green light. 150 mw isn't a lot of power and the light that passes through the filter will probably be scatterd light and no longer be laser light.however I would strongly advise you not to look in the aperture with your remaining eye and also infrared laser light is especially dangerous because you can't see it and thus look away to avoid damage to your eye.
BE CAREFULL also infrared laser light will damage your cornea and pupil as well the green will get your retina first
are you getting the green light by using a frequency doubler with an infrared laser or is it a 532 nm diode laser..because if it is a diode i don,t understand the need for an ir filter

If i point a green 50MW laser at a wall without eye protection, will i get blind or damaged?
I just bought a 50 MW green laser pointer and it does not filter IR so im afraid if i shine it at a wall and i look at it, i will get retinal damage. Any advice? and Can that burn paper?
Laser pointers are not actually laser but super bright LEDs with narrow beam width.
Pointers are designed for safe use. The manufacturer assumes that not all users are careful enough. For proper use of the pointer, read the SAFETY instructions in it's User's manual.
