What is the greenish laser beam you see driving south down the A10 through Herts at night?

It's a sort of greenish searchlight that shines high up into the sky visible to one's left as you're heading south on the new dual carriageway section between Puckeridge and Ware, but by the time you're level with Wadesmill it seems to have vanished.

it is probably the meridian line laser being projected intot he sky. it goes through greenwich. and marks the line of GMT
