Drive Power Will my WD Passport USB 2.0 external drive get power from my Macbook or do I need an adapter?
WD says the drive draws power from the USB drive most of the time, but sometimes requires an adapter. Does the macbook need this? Thanks.
Difficult to say. It won't hurt it to plug it in to the MacBook's USB port. If there isn't enough power, you'll get a warning on the screen, it won't hurt the MacBook or the external drive. My guess is that it would be OK. If there isn't enough power, you'll need a powered hub.

Is it OK to connect a Molex power connector directly to a SATA hard drive?
Just to make sure...as my SATA hard drive has both power connectors, the flat SATA power connector and the regular Molex power connector.
